Mission Trip 2019: Update #3

Updated: Oct 3, 2019

The kids are all gathered, waiting for us to get out of the bus to sing us a welcome song

Our first day at the school was absolutely incredible. Seeing the children's smiles, hearing their laughter, and getting to pour love into them was both humbling, and fulfilling. I know we all can't wait to spend some time going through our cameras to see what cute smiles we each captured.

When we arrived at the school, the children had a showcase prepared for us. Seeing each young girl and boy singing praises, or quoting scripture is something I know we will never forget. God is so faithful. Their singing and spoken word teams have been traveling around competing with other schools, and are winning competitions!

The main goal of our first day at the school was to enroll our fourth graders into our sponsorship program. We had the ability to sit down and interview each student finding out what activities they like to do, what they want to do after high school, and pour into them for the few moments that we were enrolling them into the program. Shout out to Kelly for orchestrating the enrollment process!

While the fourth graders were being enrolled, we had the fifth and sixth graders outside with new toys! It was like Christmas, but better. Seeing a sea of kids running around the school yard with brand new footballs, basketballs, volleyballs and frisbees was just so fun. We played outside for 5 hours! Safe to say, we are sore and exhausted. The kids could have played all day long if their teachers let them.

My favorite memory of the day was seeing how excited the kids were when Mic and Cyn had come back on another trip to visit them. Apart of the formality of arriving at the school, is we each introduce ourselves to the students. The students were making cheering noises when Mic and Cyn introduced themselves -- such a precious moment.

Today, we are headed on a field trip. More pictures and updates to come, stay tuned!
